Nana D.

In addition to graduating from California State University, Northridge with a Master’s degree in Educational Therapy and Special Education, Nana has earned a bachelor’s degree with honors in Biology, Chemistry and Biochemistry.

Nana moved to the United States in 1999 from the Republic of Georgia.  Her impressive experience includes providing educational therapy services to struggling readers and budding mathematicians and scientists in Los Angeles as well as being a university instructor and senior university scientist in Georgia.

Nana excels in math and science instruction, having been an instructor of anatomy, physiology, pathology and medical terminology in addition to instructing middle school and high school students in science and math.  Her achievements as a researcher are apparent:  results of her experimental work in cell biochemistry and bioenergetics have been published in national and international journals of Biochemistry and Biophysics.

Equally skilled in literacy instruction, Nana enjoys working with middle and high school students to improve their literacy skills.  Her approach to executive skill instruction emphasizes helping students develop the skills to be organized and efficient in managing the demands of their academic life.

Nana understands the importance of individualizing educational experiences for students so they can become more academically independent.  She is sensitive to the needs of students and easily earns their trust.  She has a wealth of knowledge that she brings to her educational therapy sessions.  An upbeat and compassionate teacher, Nana easily influences students to trust their innate gifts and talents.

Sue enjoys being a student as much as she enjoys being an educational therapist; she has three teaching credentials and is working toward a fourth!  Sue has a Masters degree in Special Education with an emphasis in Educational Therapy.  Her teaching credentials are in special education, multiple subjects (elementary), and agriculture.  She is currently pursuing a credential in teaching history.

Sue is a gifted educator who has twenty of years of experience educating students.  She has served in the resource classroom, helping students with learning issues, as well as being a classroom teacher in all grades from Kindergarten through fifth.  She also has been a special day class teacher, working with students who require a modified curriculum and strong support to succeed.  In her role as an inclusion facilitator, Sue helped classroom teachers meet the needs of students with learning issues.

Sue is a caring and expert educational therapist who makes learning fun!  She enjoys working with elementary-aged students in all subjects.  Her inspiring lessons skillfully incorporate each of her student’s personal interests to insure that students are fully engaged and having fun.  Movement is an integral aspect of her lessons, fully triggering the minds and bodies of her learners.  Sue comments that she feels like Mary Poppins, reaching into her bag of educational tricks to pull out the best, most engaging activities for each student.

A native of Los Angeles, Sue enjoys tennis, traveling, gardening and the Los Angeles Galaxy soccer games.  Pets are a special passion for Sue.  She and her husband care for six parrots, two cats and two fish!
