PACE

PACE (Processing And Cognitive Enhancement) is an intense, proven training method for developing skills such as attention and memory leading to better academic success.

Has your child been labeled “lazy”, “unmotivated”, or “a student at risk?”  Chances are that these behaviors are symptoms of poorly developed processing skills crucial for academic success.

Problems with processing are usually the underlying cause of academic frustration and failure.  Students who experience academic failure turn off, give up, and lose hope.  When diagnosed early, professional intervention can significantly improve, and often alleviate, the problem entirely.

The PACE strategy begins with a skilled professional evaluation to determine specific deficiencies in a child’s processing skills. An individualized program is designed for each student to treat the underlying cause and strengthen these processing skills for proper learning.  A professional clinician works on specific goals with carefully sequenced activities to strengthen weak areas and bring the learning system up to par.  PACE training is designed to achieve maximum results in the shortest time to get students moving towards academic success and self empowerment.

PACE develops:

  • Divided Attention – the ability to attend to and handle two or more tasks at one time, such as taking notes while listening, and carrying totals while adding the next column. This skill is required for handling complex tasks quickly.
  • Sustained Attention – the ability to be able to stay on task.
  • Selective Attention – the ability to stay on task even when distraction is present.
  • Auditory Processing – the ability to process sounds. This is the major underlying skill needed to learn to read and spell.
  • Comprehension – the ability to understand words and concepts.
  • Logic & Reasoning – the ability to reason, plan and think.
  • Long Term Memory – the ability to remember information over time.
  • Working Memory – the ability to hold information in memory while deciding what to do with it.
  • Processing Speed – the speed which the brain processes information.
  • Visual Processing – the ability to process and make use of visual images.
