Services I Provide
My neuropsychological evaluations help clarify diagnoses (if appropriate) and assist in identifying factors that are affecting a child’s ability to succeed academically and socially. These evaluations are helpful in identifying cognitive and social emotional issues associated with:
- Premature birth
- Developmental delays
- Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder
- Autism Spectrum disorders
- Learning disorders (e.g., Dyslexia)
- Language disorders
- Seizure disorders (e.g., Epilepsy)
- Genetic Disorders
- Traumatic brain injuries
- Psychiatric issues (e.g., depression, anxiety)
- Social difficulties
My process involves conducting neuropsychological evaluations that include a clinical interview with a child’s parents, a review of medical, academic and previous assessment records, psychological, academic and neurocognitive testing, personal communication with educators, physicians and/or therapists, and a feedback meeting with parents to review evaluation results.
Once the evaluation is complete, I write a comprehensive neuropsychological assessment report, which outlines a child’s strengths and weaknesses, clarifies his/her learning style, and lists specific recommendations for treatment and educational planning.
About My Background
I am a clinical neuropsychologist. Clinical neuropsychology is a specialized discipline of psychology that examines the relationship between brain systems and behavior. My work has focused on the assessment of neurodevelopmental disorders in children and adolescents, but I also have a great deal of experience evaluating adults.
After obtaining my doctoral degree, I completed a three-year post-doctoral fellowship in neuropsychology at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute and Hospital. I began my private practice work when I joined Lorie Humphrey and Associates in 2003. Between 2004 and 2006, I was also a Clinical Psychology Supervisor at the HELP Group in Sherman Oaks.
I am a Professor and the Graduate Coordinator of the Master of Arts in Psychology Program at California State University, Dominguez Hills. I am also an Assistant Clinical Professor (Voluntary) in the Medical Psychology Assessment Center (MPAC), Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Behavior, David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.
